Cycling is more than just a sport. It has the power to change the world. We hope you will join us in supporting these organizations in their efforts to be this change.
Achieve Kids Tri
ACHIEVE Kids Tri, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to enriching the lives of youth through the sport of triathlon.
Athletes learn how to train for the swim, bike, run, and transitions of a triathlon in a free six-week camp open to youth ages 9 – 14. ACHIEVE provides all the bikes, swimsuits and goggles so that no child will be turned away due to lack of equipment. At the end of every ACHIEVE camp, the athletes put all their hard work into action at a USAT sanctioned kids’ triathlon. As youth navigate the challenges of a triathlon, they also build essential life skills in fitness, nutrition, discipline and self-confidence.
ACHIEVE Kids Tri is currently located in four camp locations in Washington, DC with two camps in Ward 7, one in Ward 8 and one in Ward 5. The camps are run through a partnership with Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and are located at DPR Facility Centers. ACHIEVE is expanding its reach each year and also has camps in Houston, TX and Waterbury, CT with potential camps opening in other cities by 2011.
Cycle Life USA has generously supported ACHIEVE with a donation of a Zipp Wheel as an auction item at the First Annual ACHIEVE Benefit. They have also donated the staff time of Personal Trainer Colin Shah to be the Head Coach at ACHIEVE Barry Farm. Finally, they are providing all the bike maintenance for the ACHIEVE bikes throughout the camp. ACHIEVE is very grateful for their support.

World Bicycle Relief
World Bicycle Relief was founded in 2005 by SRAM Corporation and Trek Bicycle in response to the December 2004 tsunami that swept the Indian Ocean. In partnership with World Vision Sri Lanka, this project provided more than 24,000 locally manufactured bicycles to carefully selected men, women and children in greatest need. The $1.5 million Project Tsunami initiative dramatically accelerated their recovery from this brutal disaster, thanks to funding raised through the bicycle industry, foundations and individual contributors.
Due to the success of Project Tsunami, World Bicycle Relief partnered with a USAID-funded, World Vision-led coalition of relief organizations to address the HIV/AIDS crisis in Zambia. Project Zambia will provide 23,000 bicycles to community home-based care volunteers, disease prevention educators and vulnerable households. We are also training and equipping more than 400 bicycle mechanics in the field. This $2.9 million program will reach more than 500,000 adults, orphans and vulnerable children.
Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies is a vibrant, international organization that has grown from one original chapter to more than 1,500 college, high school and middle school campuses across the country and internationally.
Adventures For The Cure
Adventures For The Cure is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization and USA Cycling Club that exists to raise awareness for diabetes, show adults and children diagnosed with diabetes and their families how leading a healthy and active lifestyle can move them beyond their perceived limits, and raise funds for diabetes research.
In addition to fighting diabetes, AFC was created to inspire everyone to use their gifts and talents to make positive change in the world around us. We have focused on using our love of cycling to accomplish this task, but any gift or talent can be used to help others and do something good! We are looking for new team members who share this vision.
Bike to the Beach
Bike to the Beach, Inc. (“Bike to the Beach” or “B2B”) is organized as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization exclusively for educational, charitable, and social purposes. Through numerous events, B2B promotes biking as a viable way of running errands, commuting, traveling, exercising, reducing carbon emissions, networking, and public service.
Our goal is to educate the residents of the greater Washington, DC area about the benefits of bike riding so that they might begin biking on a regular basis. Through the creation of this strong, pro-active, and like-minded network, we are able to focus our growing resources on raising money and awareness, not only for our own organization, but also for an annually-determined charitable cause.
Donations from our past and current efforts have been donated to Autism Speaks to aid in their tireless efforts to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders.
