We’ve got answers for some of our most common questions about CycleLife’s Fit program.  Still have questions?  Give us a call at 202-333-8883.

What makes your fit services different than what I see offered at my local bike shop?

Our staff. Ultimately it’s the person fitting your bike that makes the difference. While our fitters have every advantage– the best training, the best equipment, the best protocol– it’s still the quality and experience of the fitter that makes the difference. This is why we have a dedicated fitting department and staff.

How much time will it take?

Up to four hours! The Signature Fit is thorough and we don’t like to cut corners.

Can changes to my bike me made before I leave?

Yes, almost always. Replacing cleats, exchanging handlebars, or installing new aero equipment inevitably takes time, but we cant be sure the fit is perfect without seeing you on it, so we like to get it done while you take a short break.

If you use the fitting bike, how will I know what brand/size to buy?

We identify the frame “stack and reach” and cross-reference it with a bike database that includes models and sizes of most brands– not just the ones we sell.

What should I bring to the fit?

If we’re fitting you to equipment you already own, bring your bike, shoes and riding clothing– no tee shirts. If you’re in for a new bike purchase, just bring any equipment that you plan to use on the new bike.

How long/hard will I be riding?

With our Signature Fit, plan on 90minutes of aggregate pedaling. Some of it will be done at or near your 60min threshold b/c your pedaling gait there is most relevant to producing power and avoiding injury.

I have no pain riding. Should still get a fit?

Yes! It might sound goofy, but everyone should be fit to their bike. The worst (or maybe best?) case scenario is that the fit validates your current fit. We never make an adjustment without cause.

What if I loose my final bike measurements?

No problem. We can send you a PDF of the measurements. So if your at a race and can’t remember your seat height, you’re getting a second bike or your bike gets stolen, you won’t have to redo your fit– we keep it on file.

How long will my fit last?

This is a difficult question. It largely depends on how you treat your body… If you gain 25 pounds, never stretch, or develop arthritis, it’s likely that we’ll need to review your fit. Conversely, if you dramatically improve your fitness/health, you might enjoy a more aggressive position. A good rule of thumb is every other year. Your fit changes as you do.

Where do I park?

Right in front of the store on K (Water) Street. There’s normally ample parking, but unfortunately it is metered.
